Here Lies ODP
December 01, 2006
It doesn't really seem like humans are doing it better over at dmoz. For more than a month now, any attempt to submit a url to the Open Directory Project leads to nowhere.

Check out the frustration from those who have not yet given up on ODP.

I agree. It's time for DMOZ to assume room temperature.

DMOZ Submissions have been offline for over a month now, since at least October 25, 2006. As a small business owner with a new website, www.FunPhotoGuys.com, it makes it very difficult to get my business into the big search engines. I tried to get it added to AOL Search, Google Directory, and Microsoft’s new Live Search engines, but they all direct me to do a DMOZ submission, which is dead. Now I have to hope over the next few months that a spider/crawler will catch on, or find a reputable site that is willing to add me as a link.

It looks like DMOZ is finally back up after almost three months of downtime. I was finally able to add my new photography business: http://www.FunPhotoGuys.com to the directory. Who knows how long it will take for it to actually be added by the editors, though.
